Draft Update of the National Energy and Climate Action Plan of the Republic of Lithuania for 2021–2030 (Only in Lithuanian, English summary available)
In 2019, Lithuania prepared the National Energy and Climate Action Plan for 2021–2030 (hereinafter referred to as NECP) in accordance with the requirements specified in the Energy Union Governance Regulation. The NECP was developed based on and integrating the provisions, objectives, tasks, and measures of Lithuania's national legislation, international commitments, strategies, and other planning documents, both implemented and planned. According to the Energy Union Governance Regulation, every Member State must update its NECP by June 30, 2024.
The main strategic documents integrated into the updated NECP are:
- The National Energy Independence Strategy (NENS), approved in June 2018;
- The National Climate Change Management Agenda (NKKVD), approved in June 2021;
- The National Air Pollution Reduction Plan (NAOTMP), approved in April 2019 and updated in August 2022;
- The updated NECP is linked to the National Progress Plan (NPP), approved on September 9, 2020;
- The Comprehensive Plan of the Territory of the Republic of Lithuania, approved by Resolution No. 789 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania on September 29, 2021.
The NECP sets out Lithuania's national and EU-level targets, which Lithuania will pursue to contribute to achieving the agreed EU energy and climate goals for 2030.
